Teenagers are digging up City Park this summer. But don't worry, it's all part of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science student scientist internship program.Last month, the teens began the program at City Park. A former El Paso County deputy has been sentenced after pleading guilty to theft and misconduct charges in what has been an interesting and often confusing series of events that led to Kevin Sypher's arrest. Bodycam video shows officers rescuing dog and kitten from inside hot camper
Although the heat wave has ceased in the Denver metro area, the Wheat Ridge Police Department is telling Coloradans to bring pets inside while it is still hot outside. The police department says on July 11 around 3 p.m., officers had received calls about a dog inside a camper that was barking while it was hot outside. Officers found the dog along with a kitten inside as the temperature in the camper ranged from 91 to 103 degrees, according to Wheat Ridge PD. The dog and kitten were removed from the camper, while the owner received a summons in court for animal cruelty.

Great news for Denver fans of Los Dos Potrillos. The Colorado Mexican restaurant chain announced a new location coming to the Mile High City.On Instagram, Los Dos Potrillos posted a picture with a caption reading "I-25 & Colorado BLVD - Hey Denver, it's been a long time coming. The Mexican restaurant you've been waiting for is coming soon!"Hacienda Colorado was the previous restaurant occupying the building at 4100 E. Mexico Ave. before it closed earlier this year.Also known as "Los Dos", Jose Ramirez saved up enough money to open up the first location in Centennial in 2002. E-bike program at Chatfield State Park aims to get more Coloradans outside
More than a dozen e-bikes are available to rent at Chatfield State Park. Gov. Jared Polis said the e-bike program is designed to help more people get outside. A total of 20 e-bikes are available at three pickup and dropoff sites throughout Chatfield State Park. Polis explained how the e-bikes are a great way to see everything the park has to offer. "They're a great way to reduce traffic, improve our air quality and save people money on gas and vehicle charges," said Polis. Since launching in May, riders have taken 387 trips totaling 543 miles using Chat E-Bikes. Visitors can unlock the e-bike for $1 and it's just 25 cents per minute to use to explore the state park or cycle the entire reservoir, about 11 miles. Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Colorado Department of Transportation teamed up for the program. Depending on the popularity of the e-bike program at Chatfield, it may be expanded to include other state parks.

Highlands Ranch man arrested after allegedly firing at roommate
A 29-year-old Highlands Ranch man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at his roommate. Cesar Olang-Puig was arrested on Tuesday night just before 9 a.m. in the neighborhood right behind the Cherry Hills Community Church. That happened after people reported hearing gunfire on the 9900 block of Aftonwood Street. Deputies learned that roommates who lived at a home were involved in a disturbance outside. At one point the suspect allegedly grabbed a gun and as his roommate was driving away he reportedly fired several times. No one was hurt. The suspect was seen standing in the street by the roommate after the shots were fired. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Olang-Puig then left the scene but deputies found him and he was arrested without incident on charges of attempted homicide, illegal discharge of a weapon and disorderly conduct. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said in a post on social media that his office "will make examples of people who choose to commit acts like this in Douglas County." "This senseless act could have easily injured or killed an innocent occupant of a nearby home," he said in the Facebook post.
Teen arrested after shooting of service industry worker in RiNo
Employees in Denver's RiNo arts district say they're relieved to hear about the arrest of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a service industry worker. The suspect is 14 and so far hasn't formally been named as an adult so CBS News Colorado is not identifying him.
