Below average rainfall in Denver so far this July
July tends to be the 2nd wettest month of the year in Denver. This month has been a bit different. 12 of the 16 days have lacked any measurable rainfall (trace is not considered measurable). It has been an up and down month rain-wise. Our month-to-date rainfall total is only 0.42". This is 0.65" below average.Denver started the month with 4 out of the first five days with below average temperatures, followed by a brutal heatwave from the 10th through the 15th. We were dry during this heatwave, resulting in fire weather. The remainder of this week will feature the chance of daily afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Hopefully, we can squeeze out as much precipitation as possible because we are favoring drier than average conditions for the last week of July.

Hot dogs shipped to hotels, restaurants in two states are recalled
Nearly 3.5 tons of hot dogs shipped to restaurants and hotels in Ohio and West Virginia are being recalled by AW Farms of Argillite, Kentucky, because the meat was not inspected, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Monday.The recall involves approximately 6,900 pounds hot dogs that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.The ready-to-eat dogs were manufactured on various dates starting on about May 30, 2024, and have a shelf-life of 45 days, the notice stated. Vail police seize suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine from Greyhound bus
The Vail Police Department says officers and K9s seized suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine from a Greyhound bus.According to the police department, on July 4, officers received an anonymous tip about drugs being shipped through a Greyhound bus that was scheduled to stop at the Vail Transportation Center. When K9 Officer Mark Coe and K9 Mojo arrived, they searched the suspected suitcase and that's when Mojo alerted Coe of narcotics. A total of 57.65 pounds of suspected narcotics that is believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl was found in the suitcase. For more information, contact Master Sgt. The intense summer heat is causing soda cans to burst after being loaded on some Southwest Airlines flights, the airline confirmed to CBS News on Wednesday. Car smashes through motel room in Fort Collins, miraculously no one injured
Rescue crews in Fort Collins rushed to a motel where a vehicle had smashed through the window of one of the rooms. There were two people and two dogs inside the room and one person in the vehicle when the crash happened. Poudre Fire Authority crews rushed to the scene at 3836 E. Mulberry Street about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. The people and dogs inside the room were not injured. Crews had to remove one person from inside the vehicle. That person was not injured. The vehicle was almost entirely inside the room and structural engineers examined the building. They determined the building was stable and there was no risk. The vehicle was removed from inside the motel.What led up to the crash is being investigated.

Westminster police ask for help identifying indecent exposure suspect
Police in Westminster are asking for help in identifying a suspect wanted in a series of indecent exposure incidents. Investigators said on three separate occasions, the man was seen in the greenbelt-park area near 129th and Harmony Parkway. According to detectives, the man was exposing himself and masturbating in public. The suspect is described as 30-40 years old, approximately 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall with brown or reddish hair and a beard. The man may have recently shaved his head to appear bald. 3 in hospital after SUV crashes, knocks out apartment complex's power
Crews in Aurora are working to restore power to a Colorado apartment complex after a single car crash overnight.The building is called Griffis Fitzsimons South and it is located near the intersection of 4th Avenue and Sable Boulevard in Aurora.Officials with Aurora police say three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the SUV they were in crashed into a utility box at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.The car ended up in a retention pond after it went over a curb, struck the box and went through a gate. The vehicle was heavily damaged.An official with Xcel Energy said power could be out at the apartment complex until the late afternoon or early evening.The three who were hurt were the only people inside the car at the time of the crash.
