Pilot's body found following plane crash in Eagle Mountain Lake 00:26

NORTH TEXAS – First responders are investigating what caused a plane to go down in Eagle Mountain Lake, killing one person.

In a statement issued Monday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine Champion model 7EC went down at 12:40 p.m.

Tarrant Regional Water District said the plane went down in the north end of the lake near Indian Creek Slough with one person onboard.

Fort Worth Fire Department divers went into the water and found the body of the pilot; however, TRWD said the plane was too damaged to remove the body.

TRWD said crews will work to remove the plane from the lake.

CBS News Texas Chopper was over the lake, showing the small plane mostly submerged. The tail number, visible from the air, identifies the plane's owner as a North Richland Hills man.

Multiple agencies assisted including Tarrant Regional Water law enforcement, Eagle Mountain Fire and EMS, Fort Wort Fire, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and Texas Parks and Wildlife.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating.
