A person walking in Panorama City shot at a driver who then crashed into a fence early Friday morning, a crime detectives believe may have been totally random.The pedestrian was arguing with the driver just before shooting him in the chest near Van Nuys Boulevard and Nordhoff Street around 1:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim then crashed into a fence along the street's sidewalk.He was left seriously wounded and was listed still listed in critical condition nine hours after the crash, police said.The gunman ran from the scene while officers responded and remained at large later Friday morning.It's not known whether the shooting was gang-related as investigators are still trying to track down a possible motive."We're still investigating to determine exactly what caused this shooting," LAPD Homicide Detective Christine Moselle said. "But right now, the motive is unknown and the interaction between the driver and the suspect — at this time, it appears to be very random."The victim is a man believed to be around 40 to 50 years old while the suspect has only been described by police as male.

A man out on probation for drug charges less than a year ago and a woman from Douglas were recently arrested following a search at a local apartment. On August 7, 2024, at around 1:00 PM, Detectives from the Coffee County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit were conducting a proactive narcotics patrol in Douglas. During their patrol, a detective spotted 30-year-old Christopher Lamar Hawkins, who had outstanding warrants for fleeing police and methamphetamine possession, driving a white 2021 Kia Sorento. Hawkins was stopped in front of apartment 203/204 on N Wheeler Ave, where two detectives approached him. Breanna Henderson, 33, then came out of apartment 203 to "investigate what was going on with Hawkins" and appeared to whisper with Hawkins during his arrest. The report states that Henderson, who temporarily lived with Hawkins, began whispering with him "presumably about nefarious activities due to Hawkins's previous history with drug distribution and evading law enforcement."

Three people have been arrested for clothing theft from a Kohl's retail store in Simi Valley following a pursuit. The incident unfolded in the late afternoon on August 24th, after Simi Valley police were alerted to a license plate hit on a stolen car. The car was then located in the parking lot of a Kohl's on Tapo Canyon Road. As officers arrived and attempted to make contact with two people inside a vehicle, a third person exited the Kohl's allegedly carrying an arm-full of clothing and entered the car. A pursuit was initiated and concluded about 12 miles into the foothills near the Santa Clara Valley Gas Plant. The three people in the car were taken into custody and the clothing valued at $734 was located inside the car. Police said the vehicle the suspects were in was confirmed stolen from Cerritos. An 18-year-old was arrested and booked on suspicion of possessing a stolen car, organized retail theft, and other charges. Two juveniles inside the car were arrested and cited for organized retail theft and conspiracy, and released to family members, police said.

An investigation was underway in Gardena this weekend after police say a woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver. The crash happened around 11:54 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Rosecrans Avenue.
