Huntington Beach business owners frustrated after string of burglaries over weekend

A string of burglaries targeting Huntington Beach businesses has left owners disappointed and beyond frustrated, not only dealing with the fact that they were hit by crime but also that they have to repair the expensive damage left behind.

The incidents happened early Friday morning at the plaza of businesses off Edinger Avenue and Goldenwest Street, where three different shops were broken into.

Security cameras tracked the moments that the group of burglars smashed the glass side door at Curry and Kebab at around 4:45 a.m.

"We're a family owned business and stuff like this is unnecessary expenses," said Sam Arora, who owns the Indian restaurant.

The footage continued to show as the group rummage through drawers and cabinets, making their way into the back room before leaving and heading into the restaurant next door.

Different cameras picked up their next moves as they use flashlights to make their way through Eat at Joe's and police say that they did much of the same at Gentleman Jack's Barbershop next door.

On top of these three businesses, police say that two other places were hit the same morning.

"Disappointed, scared, frustrated," where just a few words that Diego Segura, who owns Eat at Joe's, used to describe how the ordeal left them feeling.

"I mean, we work so hard and it's, like, violating just to see somebody in your business with no regard for your hard work or anything," said his wife and co-owner Allie Segura.

Despite the fact that the crew didn't get away with much, only taking a couple hundred dollars from Curry and Kebab, they're left with the expense of repairs and a constant feeling of being on edge.

"They hit so many places up within an hour ... same car everywhere," Diego Segura said. "So, I imagine they're part of a bigger operation of other cities."

An alert neighbor called police when they noticed the burglaries happening, but the suspects were able to flee by the time officers arrived, prompting a brief pursuit before they were able to successfully evade the officers.

There have not yet been any reports of arrests connected to the break-ins.
