Dozens of teenagers were arrested following what police called a "large-scale disturbance" at the SouthBay Pavilion Mall in Carson on Saturday. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were sent to the shopping center, located in the 20700 block of Avalon Boulevard, at around 2:30 p.m. after learning of the disturbance, which involved approximately 200 juveniles, according to a statement from Carson city officials. "The incident included the setting of a trash can on fire and the use of illegal fireworks within the mall premises," the statement said. No injuries reported after train derails in Carson
No injuries have been reported after a Union Pacific train derailed in Carson on Sunday. It's unclear what exactly caused the train to go off the tracks near the 22400 block of Alameda Street, but Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigators say that there was some property damage that occurred as a result of the incident. Deputies also noted that Union Pacific Police will be handling the investigation. Hiking trails on Mt. Baldy under evacuation order due to Vista Fire
Evacuation orders have been issued for all hiking trails on Mt. Baldy due to a large wild fire that sparked in the area on Sunday. As of 3:30 p.m., Cal Fire officials say that the Vista fire has burned nearly 100 acres near the Stockton Flats and Lytle Creek area. At the latest it is 0% contained. Because of this, San Bernardino County Fire Department crews have ordered all trails in the Mt. Baldy area above resort parking lot to evacuate the area immediately. Mt. Baldy ski resort Lift No. 1 will be open to help hikers who may need help in evacuation, crews said. The evacuation order was extended to include the ski resort at around 6 p.m. More than 250 firefighters were working to battle the flames, which were burning through dense vegetation in steep terrain, according to SBCFD. No communities on Mt. Baldy are under evacuation order or warning. It's unclear how the fire started on Sunday. 2 deputies injured when vehicle collides at end of chase in Long Beach
Two deputies were taken to a hospital after a collision at the end of a chase in Long Beach, authorities said. The crash Sunday unfolded near Atlantic Avenue north of the 91 Freeway before 4:15 a.m., according to Jake Heflin, a public information officer for the Long Beach Fire Department. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the deputies had responded to the scene to conduct a traffic stop of alleged street racers. That's when a suspect vehicle rammed into the deputy's car, according to a watch commander with the LASD. A pursuit ensued, which is when the deputy's vehicle collided into the center divider and hit a tree. Heflin said one deputy had to be extricated from the car. The second was able to remove himself from the wreckage.
