A big rig carrying gasoline caught fire on the 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks on Saturday, creating a massive traffic snarl as firefighters worked to contain the situation. The fire was first reported at around 9:40 p.m. on southbound lanes of the freeway near Ventura Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Fire Department officials. Teenager shot and killed in Inglewood
A teenager was shot and killed in Inglewood on Saturday. Investigators say that the incident happened a little after 4 p.m. in the 10800 block of Buford Avenue, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. Deputies say that the victim, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Suspects jump out of moving car and run into neighborhood after police chase through South LA
Police are chasing a possibly drunk driver in South LA. The pursuit began just after 9:10 p.m. and Los Angeles Police Department officers could be seen chasing the white Infiniti G35 with blacked out windows and no license plates throughout surface streets in the area. At times, the driver could be seen driving on the wrong side of the road, sometimes swerving around other cars driving along the same road. A long line of patrol cars could be seen following close behind. At around 9:30 p.m., the suspect drove over a spike strip laid in the middle of the street near W. 62nd Street and Figueroa Street, but continued driving. Some smoke could be seen showing from the back tires. A short time later the driver and a passenger, both wearing hoodies, jumped out of the car and ran into the neighborhood just a block away. The car continued to roll away despite no one behind the wheel. Both suspects were able to evade officers, jumping over fences and running through backyards in the area. LAPD officers established a large perimeter as they continue to search for the suspects. At around 11:30 p.m., officers reported that both had finally been taken into custody. No further information was provided.
Shirtless man arrested after running onto tarmac at LAX
A shirtless man was caught on camera as he ran from police on the tarmac of Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday. The bizarre ordeal happened at around 6 a.m. when airport officials say that a man experienced a "mental health crisis," while inside of Terminal 4. At some point he "became irate" and ran out onto the airfield, which prompted a response from Los Angeles Police Department officers. The video shows as the man, who for undisclosed reasons left his shirt behind, runs with one LAPD officer following close behind. "During their attempt in taking the suspect into custody, a use of force occurred," said a statement from Los Angeles Airport Police Public Information Officer Karla Rodriguez.The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was arrested for battery against a police officer before he was taken to a nearby hospital for a mental health evaluation, Rodriguez said. No further information was provided.

Brush fire forces evacuation at Santa Clarita apartment complex
Some residents living in an apartment complex in Santa Clarita were evacuated on Saturday when a brush fire sparked dangerously close to their homes. The blaze, dubbed the Olga Fire, was first reported at around 11:45 a.m. near the area of Grape Lily Circle and Valle del Oro, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters. After arriving on scene, crews were able to stop the forward spread at around 12:30 p.m., with the flames torching a little under an an acre and a half. Firefighters say that the fire spread into the attic of the nearby complex and damaged five units. Twelve residents were impacted by the damage, according to LACoFD. Two people suffered minor injuries from the fire, but they did not require transport to a hospital, crews said.
Top Fire burns about 50 acres in Moreno Valley before firefighters halt forward progress
Firefighters gained the upper hand on a brush fire burning dangerously close to multiple buildings in Moreno Valley on Saturday.The fire, being called the Top Fire, was first reported at around 4:30 p.m. in the 20500 block of Hill Top Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Crews were kept busy working to contain the flames, which had engulfed about 50 acres of brush before they were able to halt the forward progress a little before 7 p.m. Hours later, at around 10 p.m., firefighters said that the blaze was 100% contained. Both water-dropping aircraft and ground crews could be seen working to extinguish the fire Saturday afternoon. Moreno Valley has been ravaged by brush fires in recent weeks, with both the Lisa Fire and Round Fire combining to torch more than 1,200 acres of vegetation.
50-year-old man dead after head-on crash in Temecula
A 50-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision in Temecula on Friday. The crash happened at around 5:30 p.m. on Rancho California Road near the I-15 overpass, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The man, Glenmar Salcedo of Menifee, was behind the wheel of a Hyundai SUV when for unknown reasons he drove into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with another car which also struck a third vehicle. Despite attempted life-saving measures from paramedics, Salcedo was declared dead at the scene, deputies said. Two others were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment on injuries sustained in the collision. Their statuses were not known. "It is not believed intoxication played a role in this collision," said the RSO statement. Alerts issued after 12-year-old girl goes missing from Long Beach
Two law enforcement agencies have issued alerts after a 12-year-old girl went missing from Long Beach.Teriana Mahomes was last seen on Wednesday afternoon at around 4 p.m. in the 6600 block of Atlantic Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police Department officers.She was reportedly with her mother's boyfriend, identified as Clark Thomas Wheeler, police said.Mahomes is described as a Black girl who stands around 4-foot-6 and weighs around 90 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black and white checkered shirt with black jean shorts and white shoes. On top of LAPD's Ebony Alert, the California Highway Patrol also issued an Amber Alert to expand the search efforts for Mahomes. Man killed while riding motorcycle in Perris
A 46-year-old man was killed while riding a motorcycle in Perris on Friday afternoon when he was struck by a car. The crash happened at around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Redlands Avenue, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Office deputies. They say that the motorcyclist, identified as 46-year-old Perris man Samuel Alvarado, was riding southbound on Redlands Avenue when he was hit by a Nissan sedan driving westbound on Ramona Expressway, deputies said. Alvarado was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics despite attempted life-saving measures. It's unclear if the driver in the Nissan sustained any injuries. Man dies after being hit by two cars in Huntington Beach
A man died on Friday after he was hit by two cars in Huntington Beach. Officers were dispatched to Warner Avenue and Beach Boulevard at around 10 p.m. after learning of a crash in the area, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department. They arrived to find a 2022 Lexus IS 500 and a 2011 Ford Fusion that had both crashed into a pedestrian who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, police said. Investigators believe that the Lexus was traveling eastbound on Warner Avenue when they hit the pedestrian. Just after that first crash, they say that the Ford then hit the pedestrian. The victim, a 55-year-old man, has not yet been identified. He died after being rushed to a nearby hospital. "The Lexus driver, a 28-year-old male from Huntington Beach, and the Ford driver, a 61-year-old male from Newport Beach, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officers," HBPD said. "Impairment did not appear to be a factor for either of the drivers."Anyone who may have witnessed the crash was urged to contact police at (714) 536-5231.

Firefighters have issued evacuation warnings for a Thousand Oaks neighborhood as a brush fire burns nearby on Saturday. The blaze was first reported at about 3:10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Arroyo View Street in the Newbury Park neighborhood, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
