A $50,000 reward has been offered for information on the deadly shooting of a 25-year-old man in Boyle Heights in June. Los Angeles Police Department officers made the reward public as their investigation continues regarding an incident that happened on June 13. They were dispatched to the 3400 block of Emery Street at around 4:30 a.m. that morning after learning of a man suffering from a gunshot wound, a statement from the department said. The victim, Noah Martinez, was declared dead at the scene. The investigation has continued since then, but now detectives are hopeful that someone from the public will be able to come forward and identify the suspect. Authorities are searching for a pair of burglars who hit the mailroom of a West Hollywood apartment building over the weekend. Suspect crashes multiple times during pursuit in Los Angeles County
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was in pursuit of a stolen truck that had crashed multiple times during the chase. It started in East LA when deputies spotted the stolen car at about 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.The suspect recklessly evaded deputies, driving on the wrong side of the road and through red lights several times. The pursuit ended after the utility truck lost the driver-side tire and spun out near the intersection of S. Indiana Street and Dennison Street in the South Gate-East LA area. The suspect promptly left the car and surrendered as deputies drew their weapons and took cover behind their cruisers.
74-year-old woman from Mexico killed in rollover crash on I-15 in Wildomar
A 74-year-old woman from Mexico was killed in a violent rollover crash on I-15 in Wildomar over the weekend. It happened at around 1:50 p.m. Sunday afternoon on southbound lanes of the freeway near Diamond Drive, according to California Highway Patrol officers. Investigators say that the woman, Maria Martinez Lomeli, was in the rear passenger seat of a 2004 Kia Sorento traveling in the No. 2 lane when the driver, a 71-year-old Compton man, lost control of the vehicle. The car then veered into the center divider of the freeway, causing it to overturn and eject Lomeli, officers said. The car finally came to a rest near the divider on its wheels again. Investigators say that Lomeli was not wearing her seatbelt when the crash occurred. No other cars were involved in the crash. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived to find Lomeli in grave condition. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died shortly after. Both the driver and another passenger, a 66-year-old Compton woman, were taken to the hospital for treatment of major injuries. They were both said to be in stable condition as of Monday. CHP investigators are still investigating the crash.
California asks Congress for $100 million to clean up Tustin Hangar fire
The California State Assembly unanimously approved a joint resolution calling for $100 million in federal funds to help clean up the disastrous Tustin Hangar fire. "The continued, overwhelming support for SJR 13 shows that when it comes to the needs of our communities, party lines don't matter," said State Senator Josh Newman, who authored the resolution. Man hospitalized, home destroyed after massive fire in Menifee
A man was hospitalized and a home destroyed when a massive fire broke out in Menifee early Monday morning. The blaze was first reported a little after 6 a.m. in the 24600 block of Conejo Drive, according to Riverside County Fire Department officials. Crews were dispatched to the scene, a single-story home, where they arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. The occupant of the home, an unidentified man, was able to escape but suffered some injuries that required hospitalization, firefighters said. It took crews nearly an hour to control the flames, which destroyed the home. They were able to prevent them from spreading to nearby structures. Three cars at the house were also damaged by the fire, crews noted. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
3 dead after shooting investigators believe was a double murder-suicide in Palm Springs
Police are investigating a shooting they believe to be a double murder-suicide in Palm Springs.The scene unfolded at around 1:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon, when police were dispatched to N. Indian Canyon Drive and Garnet Avenue for reports of a gunshot victim in the area, according to a statement from Palm Spring Police Department officials. They arrived and found a white sedan located in the intersection with two dead males inside, the statement said. Another man was found a short distance away, near the Indian Canyon Drive overpass of the 10 Freeway, with "self-inflicted injuries," police said. Neither the victims nor the alleged shooter have been identified. "There is no additional information leading us to believe there are outstanding suspects and it appears that the two scenes are related," the police statement said. Man hospitalized after car plunges more than 300 feet down ravine near Lake Mathews
A man was hospitalized after his car veered off a road and plunged more than 300 feet down a ravine near Lake Mathews in Riverside County on Monday. It happened just after 11 a.m., when the driver was heading along Cajalco Road, just east of Eagle Canyon Road, according to Riverside County Fire Department crews. They arrived to find the car about 350 feet down the hillside. The driver was able to get out of the car under his own power before walking back up to the road, firefighters said. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment on minor injuries. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
