3 robbery suspects arrested after barricading inside Sunland smoke shop
Three robbery suspects were arrested early Sunday morning after they barricaded inside of a smoke shop in Sunland for several hours. Police were dispatched to Platinum Smoke Land, located in the 8500 block of Foothill Boulevard, at around 1:30 a.m. after learning of a robbery in progress in the area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. All three of the suspects barricaded inside of the shop upon police arrival, at least one of which was allegedly armed, officers said. As the standoff continued, a SWAT team was called to the scene at around 3:30 a.m. Eventually the suspects were arrested at around 5 a.m. Police say that a woman was involved in the incident, but it's unclear if she was actually part of the robbery. No injuries were reported.
Small brush fire in Lancaster spreads to structures before firefighters contain flames
Firefighters were battling a brush fire in Lancaster that has spread to structures in the area before they finally gained control of the flames.The fire erupted Sunday afternoon along 20th Street West and West Avenue L and quickly burned through six acres, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department crews. It was completely contained just after 5:40 p.m. Several structures were damaged by the flames, but the exact extent of the damage is not yet known. No further details were immediately available.
Firefighters quickly handle 24-acre brush fire in Castaic area
Firefighters quickly gained the upper hand on a brush fire in the Castaic area, which was being called the Indigo Fire. The fire broke out Sunday afternoon near Barcelona Road and Capri Court, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It burned 24.5 acres before they were able to contain the flames. Probe continues following shooting death of man in Santa Ana
An investigation was underway Sunday after a 20-year-old man was fatally shot in Santa Ana. Santa Ana police received reports of a shooting just before 12:30 a.m. in the area of Bristol Street and Memory Lane. When they responded, they located the victim who was later identified as Fernando Manuel Lopez of Santa Ana. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene after life-saving measures. 2 people shot while standing on sidewalk in Long Beach
Two people were transported to a hospital this weekend after being shot in Long Beach.The shooting unfolded around 6:15 p.m. Saturday along Alamitos Avenue and East 6th Street. When police arrived, they located a man and a woman who had both suffered gunshot wounds that were described as non-life-threatening. Robbery suspect fatally shot in West Adams
Police are investigating a homicide and robbery in West Adams. It happened at around 6 p.m. near the 2600 block of S. Harcourt Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police Department investigators. They say that the victim, a 32-year-old man, was "fleeing in his vehicle after being involved in a robbery" where he and some passengers robbed the eventual suspect at gunpoint. The 21-year-old shooting suspect chased the victim's car and eventually crashed into the back of his car, police said. "The victim's vehicle then ran off the road and collided with a light pole," an LAPD statement said. "Two passengers exited the victim's vehicle and fired multiple shots at the suspect."They then ran from the area in an unknown car, police said. "The suspect remained at location and awaited police arrival," the statement continued. The victim of the shooting was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said that he is not homeless. Investigators are working to determine if the incident is gang-related. No further information was provided.
