Man found guilty for 1984 Minneapolis murder
MINNEAPOLIS — A 67-year-old Illinois man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the 1984 murder of Robert Miller at a south Minneapolis apartment building.Investigators were able to track down Matthew Brown last year thanks to advances in DNA technology.Genealogical research identified a likely suspect, and in March 2023, investigators retrieved the suspect's discarded cup and made a DNA match.In the early morning of July 17, 1984, police say Miller was murdered during a fight with an intruder. Dozens injured in tractor accident at Wisconsin apple orchard
CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. — A tractor accident at a Chippewa County apple orchard sent 25 people to the hospital on Wednesday morning.According to Chippewa Fire District Deputy Chief Cory Jeffers, two hay wagons carrying adults and children collided. Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes said one wagon had lost control while descending on a hill.Officials initiated a mass casualty protocol, and 25 people were taken to various hospitals. Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire said they have seen seven patients from the incident who were being treated for minor to serious injuries. Hakes said that three of those involved sustained "life-threatening injuries." Police seek help finding St. Cloud girl, 14; missing for weeks, believed to be in metro
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Authorities are asking for the public's help to find 14-year-old St. Cloud resident Paige Marie Voigt, who has been out of contact with her family for over a month.The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Voigt "ran away from home" on Aug. 8 and was last seen near Cooper Avenue South and 26th Street South.Voigt's family "believes she may be saying in the metro area," according to the bureau, though it's not clear exactly where.She is described as standing 5 feet tall, weighing about 100 pounds with red hair and hazel eyes.Voigt was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants. She has a nose ring and may be riding an old, blue Huffy bicycle.Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call St. Cloud police at 320-345-4397.
Inmate dies in Moose Lake correctional facility
MOOSE LAKE, Minn. — A 39-year-old inmate at a correctional facility in Moose Lake died on Tuesday morning.A cellmate reported to staff around 10:40 a.m. that the man was unresponsive in their room, the Department of Corrections said. Staff attempted to start life-saving measures, but the man died.The corrections' office says the circumstances surrounding the man's death are part of an active investigation. His identity is being withheld until officials can notify his next of kin. According to the corrections' department, there are 1,006 adult offenders on site at the Moose Lake facility as of Wednesday.

SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Wednesday morning shooting in South St. Paul sent a man to the hospital, police said.The shooting, which occurred on the 2200 block of Southview Boulevard around 10 a.m., was "not a random act of violence," the South St. Paul Police Department said."Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect and victim are known to each other," the department said.
