Mix of clouds and sun Sunday, mostly dry weather this week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a fairly active weather week, conditions around the Delaware Valley were quieter this weekend, with mixed skies, light winds and warm, if not slightly below seasonable temperatures.

Today a weak disturbance passes overhead with clouds that will give way to afternoon and evening sun. It will be cooler than yesterday in the low 80s and also less humid courtesy of a dry northwest wind.

Wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere will cross the region today. This certainly will not be as bad as last summer, but it may bring a more colorful sunset this evening.

Our dry sunny weather doesn't stop today. The week ahead looks mostly sunny and dry with temperatures slightly below average in the low to mid-80s. Our next best chance of rain and storms is next Saturday.

Our slightly cooler than normal pattern is expected to continue for the next 10 days.

Turning to the tropics, Tropical Wave Invest 98-L is located in the Atlantic Ocean east of the Lesser Antilles Islands.  It is expected to strengthen in the next several days and has a 90% chance of becoming a named storm, likely Ernesto.

It's too early to determine if this will affect the eastern seaboard or Gulf but models have it headed toward the Caribbean later this week. Stay tuned, this may be one to watch for the US mainland.
