Police investigating shooting at SEPTA's 15th Street Station in Center City 00:27

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A 17-year-old was arrested after a shooting on the platform of SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line at City Hall in Center City, Philadelphia, on Tuesday, according to police.

A 23-year-old man was shot multiple times on the westbound platform of the "EL" at North 15th and Market streets shortly before 3:30 p.m., police said. A SEPTA spokesperson said he was shot in the leg. The 23-year-old is in police custody and was placed in stable condition at a local hospital.

According to the SEPTA spokesperson, a fight between a "small group" happened on the platform when someone in the group allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots.

Philadelphia police said the 23-year-old was also armed and a weapon was recovered.

SEPTA said police activity at the station has cleared and trains and trolleys are running on their regular schedules. However, the 5th Street Station remains closed because of the presidential debate.

The shooting comes hours before the first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. Several roads are closed in the city, and parking restrictions are in place. SEPTA's City Hall station is nearly a mile from the National Constitution Center.
