Patchy fog reduces visibility around Philadelphia area; when it moves out for sunny weather 03:29

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — We have ended our NEXT Weather Alert for fog Friday morning in the Philadelphia region.

Clouds formed overnight along the I-95 corridor, and then low wind speeds in the region caused that fog to form.

Thursday, we saw a widespread blanket of fog across the region. On Friday, the fog was more patchy, but with locally dense spots. As the run rose, the fog started to burn off.

The fog at times reduced visibility to near zero in places like Atlantic County, New Jersey and Coatesville, Pennsylvania.

Conditions were better than Thursday, when visibility was near zero in several spots.

Fog tends to peak after daybreak hits. Sunrise was at 6:40 a.m. in Philadelphia today.

Below, Bill Kelly reports from the NEXT Weather Sphere on how fog forms.

Outside of the morning fog, the Philly region can expect a gorgeous, dry day with temperatures rising into the 80s.
