Friday morning warms up after chilly start; warmer weekend weather ahead around Philadelphia area 03:55

Friday started off with the coldest temperatures of fall so far, with lows dipping into the 30s and 40s around the Philadelphia region.

A frost advisory was in effect overnight for parts of South Jersey and the suburbs northwest of Philadelphia until 9 a.m. But now it's about time to get ready for the weekend.

With that said, the afternoon will be pleasant with highs climbing to around 70. Then we rebound into the upper 70s by the weekend! Lots of sunshine will be in the forecast for the foreseeable future.

Expect a high around 79 degrees on Sunday as the Eagles are back at home following their bye week, taking on the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field.

Our NEXT Weather maker arrives on Sunday evening as another cold front crosses the area, bringing another shot of cold air for next week as well as the chance for a few showers Sunday night into Monday morning. Rain totals don't look impressive but the highs may stay in the 50s by Tuesday next week!

As always, the NEXT Weather Team will keep you and your family updated.
