Jane's Addiction cancels Connecticut concert after band members get into fight on Boston stage 02:14

BOSTON - Members of the alternative band Jane's Addiction were seen fighting onstage at their show in Boston Friday night.

    Fight caught on video

It happened at the band's show at Leader Bank Pavilion. Video shows lead singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro yelling and confronting each other in the middle of a song, shoving each other before Farrell throws a punch at Navarro. Another man then jumps between them, breaking up the fight. The concert ended early after that.

"There is a call back I guess to a classic rock-type attitude mentality of being a bad boy and all that. Kind of seems to have died out and this kind of refreshes people's memory about it a lot," one fan said.

"I'm not seeing that at any other concert. That's pretty crazy to be honest," says Eoin O'Donnell who was blown away by the video.

Video of the incident quickly spread around social media, with some fans speculating if the band will break up.

    Wife blames frustration

"Perry's frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band," Farrell's wife, Etty Lau Farrell, wrote in an Instagram post Saturday morning.

She said her husband had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat and "by the end of the song, he wasn't singing, he was screaming just to be heard." She said her husband later broke down "and cried and cried."

Jane's Addiction, known for songs like "Jane Says" and "Been Caught Stealing," is on its first tour in 15 years. Their next show set for Sept. 15 at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut was cancelled via social media on Saturday.

"We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night. As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow night's show in Bridgeport," Jane's Addiction said on Facebook.

The band said that refunds for Sunday's show will be issued from ticket providers.

"I guess if you buy a ticket to a Jane's Addiction concert you take your chances," says Boston native Rich Wade.

WBZ-TV reached out to concert promoter Live Nation for comment but did not hear back.
