Pittsburgh Joe's Crab Shack hit by ricocheting bullet 02:29

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Joe's Crab Shack in Pittsburgh's Station Square has closed, according to a sign posted on the door.

It's unclear why the restaurant on West Station Square Drive shuttered, but the closure comes less than two months after the restaurant was hit by a bullet .

"We are grateful for the support of our community and encourage our guests to visit us at another Landry's location nearby!" the sign reads. It lists other restaurants like Grand Concourse, also in Station Square, and Mitchell's Fish Market at the Galleria of Mt. Lebanon.

Pittsburgh police were called to the restaurant on the afternoon of July 30 after an employee heard a popping sound from outside.

Officers found damage to one of the back windows and a bullet fragment on the ground. Only the first pane of the two-pane window was damaged, police said. Investigators believe the bullet may have hit a metal object before ricocheting and hitting the window. No one was injured.

Station Square recently lost another restaurant when Buca di Beppo declared bankruptcy. The location on East Station Square Drive closed, as well as another Buca di Beppo in Robinson.

Joe's Crab Shack has locations in multiple states, including Florida, Texas and California, but the restaurant in Station Square was its only one in Pennsylvania.
