2 people hospitalized after major south Sacramento crash

SACRAMENTO – A major crash involving two vehicles in south Sacramento left two people in critical condition on Tuesday, authorities say.

The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Amherst Street and Meadowview Road.

Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but an SUV and pickup truck appear to have been involved. Both vehicles were left with significant damage.

Sacramento Fire crews had to extricate people from both vehicles.

Those people have been taken to the hospital in critical condition, firefighters say.

Meadowview Road is blocked due to the crash. Drivers should detour around the area for the time being.
