Hall died after he collapsed during a training exercise in late September. He was 59.

A procession departed from West Sacramento at 9:45 am. and arrived at Creekside Church in Elk Grove around 10:45 a.m.

"Tim was a hard worker. He was nose to the grindstone, get things done," said Capt. Justin Sylvia of Sacramento's fire department. "Very good with work ethic. Team member. Very good person."

He was a fire investigator and a member of the urban search and rescue task force, serving both the West Sacramento Fire Department and his hometown of Clarksburg, where he was a volunteer for more than 40 years.

Community members were there for Tuesday's service to honor a fallen hero. Laura Schnack brought her students to pay tribute. They walked from Our Lady of Grace in West Sacramento to watch as Hall's procession departed.

"We have been so grateful for his volunteer in Clarksburg work as well as him being a firefighter in the community of West Sac," Schnack said.
