Attempted murder suspect wanted since August arrested in Stockton 00:22

STOCKTON — A suspect on the run since August who was wanted for attempted murder and several other violent felony charges was arrested in Stockton, authorities said Thursday.

West Point resident Johnny Miller, 34, was located at a property along Highway 88 in Stockton, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said. Miller had been wanted in a joint investigation conducted by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office and the CHP.

Both agencies worked with the Calaveras County District Attorney's office to obtain an arrest warrant for an incident that happened in West Point back in August, the CHP said.

The serious nature of the charges led to the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force being called in to help locate and arrest Miller.

Miller tried to run away when he was located but was arrested after a brief foot chase.

He has since been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and is awaiting transfer to neighboring Calaveras County. He faces attempted murder, carjacking, and several firearms-related charges, the CHP said.
