Salinas police on Thursday asked for the public's help in identifying and finding a suspect in a fatal stabbing from last weekend.

Juan Carlos Diaz-Cruz, 20, died in the stabbing reported at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Beech Street and Dewey Avenue in east Salinas.

Diaz-Cruz was taken to Natividad Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries there, police said.

Investigators learned he was in an altercation with another man when he was stabbed. Detectives obtained a video showing the alleged suspect and police have shared a screenshot of the footage in the hope that members of the public can identify him.

Anyone with information about the man's identity can call Detective Robbie Miller at (831) 758-7945 or the Salinas police tip line at (831) 775-4222.
