Fantasy Football Rankings 2024: NFL sleepers, breakouts, busts from model that nailed Deebo Samuel's weak year

Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers are coming off season-ending Achilles injuries, Cousins suffering it in Minnesota and Rodgers injuring himself on the fourth play of his Jets debut in Week 1 last season. Both have talented receivers who have failed to live up to expectations with previous quarterbacks, Drake London (Falcons) and Garrett Wilson (Jets). Both are high in the 2024 Fantasy football WR rankings, but without seeing the chemistry with their new quarterbacks in game action, are they at risk of being 2024 Fantasy football busts? How high should others such as Breece Hall, Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitts be in the 2024 Fantasy football rankings with their quarterbacks coming back from injury?
Last year, the model accurately predicted that Buccaneers running back Rachaad White was being dramatically undervalued. White was coming off the board in the seventh round on average in 12-team PPR leagues, but he emerged as Tampa Bay's workhorse ball carrier and provided significantly more value than expected, finishing No. 4 at his position. White rushed for 990 yards and six touchdowns while adding 64 catches for 549 yards and three more scores as a receiver. Top 2024 Fantasy football sleepers
One of the 2024 Fantasy football sleepers the model is predicting: Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman. The 26-year-old set career-highs in receptions (109) and receiving yards (1,152) last season as he's been a huge part of the Indianapolis passing game plan over the last three seasons. Pittman has averaged 142 targets over the last three years, including a career-high 156 last season. His 156 targets were ninth-most in the NFL last season and only 12 players had more than 142 targets last season.
Pittman had eight receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown in his first game with Anthony Richardson last season. Richardson only started and finished two games last season, but that first contest proved the two can have a strong relationship on the field. Pittman, at 6-foot-4, is a big-body target for Richardson, who is a big-play threat at quarterback. Top 2024 Fantasy football breakouts
One of the 2024 Fantasy football breakouts the model is predicting: Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey. Los Angeles lost three of its top five receiving leaders from last year's team in the offseason, including veteran Keenan Allen, who led the team with 1,243 receiving yards. The biggest addition the team made to replace those targets was McConkey, a second-round draft pick from Georgia.
He has a prime opportunity following the overhaul, as he could quickly emerge as one of Justin Herbert's top targets. McConkey is a quick wideout who can create separation with his elite route-running package, which is exactly what the Chargers need to replace 320 targets from last season. SportsLine's model has McConkey ranked ahead of wide receivers like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Keon Coleman and Xavier Worthy, identifying him as a Fantasy breakout. Top 2024 Fantasy football busts
As for players to avoid, the model lists Chargers running back Gus Edwards as one of its 2024 Fantasy football busts. Edwards finished as the RB32 in Fantasy last season, but he scored the fourth-most touchdowns in the league. He will struggle to match his production from last season if he suffers regression, especially since all of his value comes from rushing.
Edwards commanded just a 2.8% target share last season and is facing rushing competition from J.K. Dobbins and Kimani Vidal. While Edwards might be the lead back on the Chargers depth chart, it could be a committee approach from new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Edwards would need to be efficient with his expected touches in order to match his 2024 Fantasy football ADP, as SportsLine's model has him ranked behind running backs like Tyjae Spears and Rico Dowdle.
