The 2024 college football campaign is about to kick off, meaning there will be games every week for the next three months. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets open the season against the No. 10 Florida State Seminoles in a Week 0 showdown over in Ireland on Saturday, Aug. 24. Georgia Tech finished the 2023 season with a 7-6 record but made a bowl game, its first since 2018. On Dec. 22, the Yellow Jackets beat UCF 30-17 in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. Meanwhile, Florida State was blown out 63-3 by Georgia in the Orange Bowl despite going undefeated in the regular season.
The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated a profit of well over $2,000 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It is also coming off a profitable 13-9 season on top-rated spread picks. Anyone who has followed it has seen strong returns.
The Seminoles have four new players starting on the defensive side of the ball. Those players are Marvin Jones Jr. , Cam Riley , Davonte Brown and Earl Little Jr , and FSU is looking to stay dominant. Last season, FSU had one of the best defenses in the ACC, ranking second in the ACC in total defense (305.7) and pass defense (170.4).
Additionally, the Seminoles ranked fifth in rushing yards allowed (135.3) and gave up 15.9 points per game. Senior linebacker DJ Lundy is an athletic and instinctive playmaker. Lundy has impressive play recognition skills to find the ball. Last season, he finished with 54 total tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks. In 2023, the Georgia native had at least five tackles in six games. See which team to pick here .
Why Georgia Tech can cover
The Yellow Jackets have some continuity coming back to the team from last season. Sophomore linebacker Kyle Efford is one of those guys. Efford is an active and instinctive defender who sniffs out the ball carrier. The Georgia native led the team in total tackles (81) last season to go along with one sack. He finished with at least seven tackles in five straight games to end the 2023 season.
Junior safety Clayton Powell-Lee provides the secondary with a player who isn't afraid to find the football. The Georgia native finished with 70 total tackles and two pass deflections. Senior safety LaMiles Brooks is a physical tackler and has a knack for making plays on the ball in coverage. Last season, he had 62 total tackles and seven pass deflections.
