    Why Oklahoma State can cover

Mike Gundy's squad is coming off a strong season in 2024, beating Oklahoma , going to the Big 12 Championship Game and earning a bowl win over Texas A&M for a 10-win season. However, with the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams and the program's chief rivals in the Big 12 bolting for the SEC (the Sooners and Longhorns), the finish line has moved for the Cowboys.

There's a clear opportunity for Oklahoma State to win the Big 12 and make the CFP and superstar running back Ollie Gordon will be the driving force in that pursuit. Gordon led FBS with 2,062 scrimmage yards and scored 22 touchdowns last season and he opened the season with 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns last week. Arkansas gave up over 201.3 yards per game on the ground during SEC play next season and will have its work cut out stopping Gordon. See which team to pick here .

    Why Arkansas can cover

After jumping from three wins to nine from Sam Pittman's first year to his second, the Razorbacks have had their win totals drop to seven and then four in the two ensuing years. Now Pittman knows that he's on the hot seat and that's why he worked the transfer portal hard this offseason to rework his offense. Taylen Green transferred in from Boise State to win the quarterback job and Utah transfer Ja'Quinden Jackson is the new top option at running back.

Green threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns while adding six carries for 88 yards and two more scores in just over a half of work against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Meanwhile, Jackson carried the ball eight times for 101 yards and two touchdowns while also catching two passes for 20 yards. Both were battle-tested as starters at quality programs before arriving in Fayetteville and they'll need to be difference-makers for the Razorbacks to pull off the upset.
