Conference realignment causing the Pac-12 as we once knew it to collapse has made lots of fans unhappy, but they'll at least get to see two of the conference's classic rivalries during the Week 3 college football schedule. No. 9 Oregon vs. Oregon State will take place on Saturday as will the Apple Cup, featuring Washington vs. Washington State. Both rivalries have been contested well over 100 times, and both matchups have the new Big Ten schools favored. The Ducks are 17-point favorites over OSU in the latest Week 3 college football odds via SportsLine consensus, while the Huskies are favored by 5 points over WSU.
Other in-state, non-conference matchups include No. 18 Notre Dame vs. Purdue (+9.5) and Colorado vs. Colorado State (+7). Games between rivals tend to be much closer than expected considering the extra motivation that comes with playing a frequent opponent. Your Week 3 college football bets should take that into account, with both straight-up and against-the-spread CFB predictions. Before locking in any Week 3 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the latest college football predictions from SportsLine's proven model.
The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated a profit of over $2,000 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It is also coming off a profitable 13-9 season on top-rated spread picks and is off to a 4-0 start on over/under picks this season. Anyone who has followed it has seen strong returns!
One of the college football picks the model is high on during Week 3: Washington (-5) covers in its Apple Cup rivalry game at Washington State in a 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Apple Cup has been one-sided over the past decade, as Washington is 9-1 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings. The Huskies are playing under a new coaching staff following their run to the national championship game last season, but they are off to a strong start with blowout wins over Weber State and Eastern Michigan .
Transfer quarterback Will Rogers has already racked up 511 passing yards and five touchdowns, while transfer running back Jonah Coleman has rushed for 231 yards and three scores. They are facing a Washington State defense that allowed 30 points to FCS Portland State in Week 1, and the Cougars are going on the road for the first time this season. Washington has consistently been the better team in this rivalry, and the model has the Huskies covering the spread in well over 60% of simulations. See the rest of its Week 3 college football picks here.
Another prediction: No. 5 Ole Miss (-21.5) covers the huge spread at Wake Forest in a 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday. Wake has lost a mind-boggling 64 straight games versus AP top-10 opponents, with its last win coming 78 years ago. This is the longest active streak in FBS by 23 games, and there's no indication it will end on Saturday. Ole Miss owns the best point differential (+125) by any FBS team through two games since 2015, as it won 76-0 versus Furman in Week 1 and 52-3 against Middle Tennessee State in Week 2.
Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart nearly has as many TD passes (six) as incompletions (seven) this season. He leads the SEC in completion percentage, passing yards and passer rating, while RB Henry Parrish Jr . ranks among the top three in the SEC in rushing yards, yards per carry and rushing TDs. The Rebels have covered both games this year, while the Demon Deacons failed to cover in either of their contests. With Wake also 0-4 ATS in its last four versus AP-ranked opponents, the model has Ole Miss (-21.5) covering well over 60% of the time. See picks for every other game in Week 3 here.
