DOCUMENTS: Tyler man shot, killed his ex-girlfriend's friend during birthday celebration
SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Documents say a Tyler man killed his ex-girlfriend's friend Sunday evening while celebrating the friend's birthday. Kelly Eduardo Torrez, 22, of Tyler, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after a shooting at a residence on County Road 4136 in Smith County around 6:30 p.m. Melvin Orlando Guevara, Jr., 21, was later arrested and charged with murder in connection with Torrez's death. Torrez was found shot multiple times when deputies arrived at the scene.
