POLICE: Man arrested after domestic dispute leads to shooting in Longview
LONGVIEW, Texas — A domestic dispute in Longview ended in a shooting left one person hospitalized earlier this week. The Longview Police Department said officers arrived to the scene at the 300 block of Margo Street at 6:20 p.m. Monday. Officers found a female victim with two gunshot wounds. The victim was brought to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

NEW DIANA, Texas — Services have been planned for a New Diana ISD student who died Wednesday. New Diana High School announced on Facebook that services will be held at the New Diana High School auditorium. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 14 from 2 to 6 p.m., while funeral services will begin Monday, July 15 at 11 a.m.

TEXAS, USA — Disaster recovery centers will reopen Thursday following a two day closure due to Tropical Storm Beryl. Fort Campbell soldier found dead in home was stabbed nearly 70 times, autopsy shows
CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee — A Fort Campbell soldier found dead in her home earlier this year died of nearly 70 stab wounds, according to an autopsy report. No arrests have been made in the death of 23-year-old Pfc. Katia Dueñas Aguilar, whose body was found in her Tennessee home in May near the Army post.
Tyler Fire Department conducting Fire Safety Blitz to replace, install safety equipment
TYLER, Texas — The Tyler Fire Department and the American Red Cross are teaming up to ensure East Texans are up to date on their fire safety equipment. On July 12, 19 and 26, firefighters will be going door-to-door to check smoke alarms as part of their Fire Safety Blitz initiative. During this time they will replace batteries and install free smoke alarms in homes that need them, according to the city of Tyler. They will be concentrating on houses near Woldert Park and Caldwell Zoo due to a recent house fire in a residence with no smoke alarms.

SMITH COUNTY, Texas — One man is in critical condition after a shooting in Smith County on Wednesday morning. Deputies from the Smith County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting in the 20900 block of County Road 4129 at 6:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies found Rogieys Simmons, 67, was shot in the upper body area while standing at his front door.

POLICE: Nebraska man arrested in Palestine for sexual assault of child
PALESTINE, Texas — A Nebraska man accused of sexually assaulting a child at an East Texas motel was arrested last week. Tanner Bradshaw, 34, of Omaha, Nebraska was arrested on July 3 at the Express Inn and Suites Motel in Palestine. Palestine PD received a report on June 28 that a child had been sexually assaulted by a man at the motel. Police say they obtained a search warrant for Bradshaw's motel room and an arrest warrant for sexual assault of a child.
3 dogs rescued after kitchen fire inside Kilgore home
KILGORE, Texas — Three dogs were rescued Wednesday morning while firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in Kilgore. According to the Kilgore Fire Department, people weren't at home at the time of the fire and it was contained to the kitchen and attic space above. The three dogs that were inside got out safely with one receiving oxygen. The fire happened at a home in the 1600 block of Amanda Lane.
West Texas volunteer firefighter arrested on felony arson charges
ALPINE, Texas — A West Texas volunteer firefighter and EMS crew member was arrested July 5 on suspicion of setting multiple brush fires in the area, spanning from 2023-2024. David Matthew Neet, 44, of Alpine was arrested by Brewster County Sheriff’s Office deputies on 20 felony counts in connection with multiple wildland fires. His bond was set at $300,000. Arson is a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000.
FEMA announces additional East Texas counties eligible for recovery assistance
NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas — Residents in East Texas counties are eligible for disaster recovery assistance, according to a statement released by FEMA Wednesday. In a press release, FEMA announced that homeowners and renters in Anderson, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk and Sabine counties are now eligible for FEMA assistance after the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 26 through June 5.
