Surprising number of Texas parents want fines for excessive school absences, study shows
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As we approach the start of another school year, a new study shows half of Texans think fining parents for children's school absences is a good idea. Longtime local educator and most recently West Oso School Superintendent Conrado Garcia said, "It will work for a few but in my opinion after all of these years of being an educator, it will not get the majority."

East Texas, state and federal officials react to shots fired at former President Donald Trump's rally
PENNSYLVANIA, USA — A campaign rally hosted by former President Donald Trump was cut short when shots rang out into the crowd Saturday. The former president and presumptive Republican nominee was at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania when gunshots were heard throughout the crowd. Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger said in a statement that the suspected gunman is dead and at least one rally attendee was killed. The Secret Service is currently investigating the incident and has labeled the area as an active crime scene. During a press conference Saturday night, law enforcement officials said they are close to being able to publicly identify the suspect and will do that as soon as they are 100% confident in the identity.
