    Man tells police he was shot on near west side

    INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating the circumstances behind a reported shooting on the near west side.

    According to IMPD, a man flagged down officers shortly after 4 a.m. in the 100 block of Neal Avenue to report he’d been shot. Officers found the man with a wound consistent with a gunshot.

    Police were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. They didn’t release any additional details about a possible suspect.

    The man, who was reportedly homeless, was taken to an area hospital. Police were still working to confirm if his wound came from a gunshot.

    The incident remains under investigation.
