PITTSBORO, Ind. — A suspect who allegedly shot and killed another man two weeks ago in Indianapolis has been arrested in Pittsboro.

Multiple Hendricks County police agencies assisted Thursday in IMPD’s arrest of 33-year-old Myron D. King. The suspect is charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of 38-year-old Brandon Lewis earlier this month.

IMPD crews were called around 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 5 to the intersection of West 12th Street and North Tibbs Avenue for a person shot. Upon arrival, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound in a nearby alleyway.

IEMS soon arrived and pronounced the man dead on scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office later identified the man as Lewis, ruling his death a homicide by gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and IMPD said they were able to identify King as a potential suspect. The victim’s girlfriend told police she witnessed the killing and surveillance cameras in the area allegedly showed King shooting the victim once in the stomach and a second time in the head.

Violent Crimes Unit crews reportedly located King on Thursday and asked for assistance in his arrest. Brownsburg police officials said that two officers were called to the scene to help with the arrest, which occurred during a planned traffic stop in Pittsboro.

According to the affidavit, after being arrested in Pittsboro, King confessed to the shooting.

Police say the case proves the value of the public’s assistance.

“It’s a collaboration effort between the community and police,” said IMPD Sgt. William Young. “We have good work of our investigators, but our investigators are only as good as what info they receive from the community, which is always important.”

In addition to that case, police also arrested two juvenile teens on Thursday for a second unrelated murder that took place at an apartment complex on Beverly Hills Drive.

38-year-old Jerry Thompson Jr. was shot and killed in the hallway of his apartment building. Witnesses saw two young men run away from that scene.

Officers quickly questioned the 14- and 16-year-old suspects and arrested both teens for murder on Thursday. Although the motive remains unclear, police hope both cases send an important lesson to others.

“Community members are tired of gun violence.  For those who pick up a firearm without learning conflict resolution, you’re going to get a knock on your door from our homicide investigators,” said Young.
