BOONE COUNTY, Ind. — Documents and internet searches found on a student’s computer triggered a Boone County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Wednesday.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, administrators at Western Boone Junior-Senior High School found “concerning internet searches and a document” on a student’s computer earlier this week. The documents recovered by administrators contained threats directed at specific students and school faculty members.

BCSO reported that WBHS administration has already informed parents and teachers of the threats that were made. The school district also took appropriate disciplinary action against the student.

School resource officers at WBHS also filed a report on the incident, and the sheriff’s office reported that an investigation “for potential criminal charges” is ongoing.

BCSO indicated that, as of Saturday afternoon, no additional ongoing threats against WBHS students or faculty had been identified. The sheriff’s office also reported that is is “taking proper precautions within the Western Boone Community Schools District.”

BCSO is still investigating the threats that were issued. The sheriff’s office indicated that it will provide updates when possible.
