INDIANAPOLIS — The surging Indiana football team received both good news and bad news on Sunday afternoon.

The Hoosiers moved up three spots in the Associated Press poll to No. 13. They’ll also host ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday before their showdown with last year’s College Football Playoff runner-up, Washington.

Indiana, however, will be without starting quarterback Kurtis Rourke.

The redshirt senior suffered a thumb injury in the Hoosiers’ 56-7 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium. The Hoosiers said in a school release that Rourke will be out indefinitely, but they expect him to return this season.

Rourke has been the driving force of an offense leading the country in scoring at 48.7 points per game. The Hoosiers also rank among the nation’s best with 512.7 yards per game. The transfer from Ohio has thrown for almost 2,000 yards with 15 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

Indiana is off to a 7-0 start for just the second time in program history. The first time was the 1967 Rose Bowl season.

This weekend will mark the first time ESPN’s famed pregame show will stop in Bloomington on a Saturday. “College GameDay” was present for Indiana’s season-opener against Ohio State on a Thursday night in 2017.

“College GameDay” features host Rece Davis with analysts Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and former Hoosiers’ head coach Lee Corso, who coached IU from 1973-82.
