Texas CVE officers say they encountered two ‘nightmares on 18 wheels’ this week

The Boyd Police Department (BPD) out of Texas shared an eyebrow-raising account of the violations uncovered during a pair of commercial vehicle traffic stops this week.

On August 8, the BPD took to social media to call out two commercial vehicle drivers for a slew of violations.

“ In a surprising turn of events, our newly launched Commercial Vehicle Enforcement program has already caused some raised eyebrows, and not just from the drivers we stopped! It seems a few folks are wondering, “Wait, you mean there are trucks out there worse than my Uncle Bob’s rust bucket?”

Well, we’re here to tell you that yes, yes there are. And not just a little worse. Try “Nightmare on 18 wheels” worse.

Yesterday, our dedicated Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers flagged down two trucks that looked like they had rolled straight out of a disaster movie. If you think we’re exaggerating, here’s the rundown:

• Truck #1: Somehow still running despite four previous out-of-service orders. Impressive dedication to defying the laws of safety.

• Truck #1: Not only was he violating 4 previous out-of-service orders, The truck was rolling through Boyd with an unlicensed driver at the wheel.

• Truck #2: Truck number 2 had a driver’s license that was more “Class C” than “Class A, CDL.”

But wait, there’s more!

• Both trucks were sporting fictitious license plates. Yes, they had imaginary friends for registration too, because who needs paperwork, right?

• Trailer brakes? Nonexistent, thanks to multiple air leaks that turned stopping into an optional activity.

• And of course, both vehicles were decorated with a full set of safety violations that would make any mechanic’s eye twitch.

These trucks were not local. They were just passing through Boyd. Passing through on the same roads you and your families travel. Yes, these road warriors decided to share their love of danger with everyone.

Let’s be real, though—these aren’t the kind of trucks you want tailgating you on the highway. And we’re pretty sure the good truckers out there don’t want to share the road with them either.

But thanks to our officers having this new “tool,” we were able to take these ticking time bombs off the road before they could cause any real damage. So, while it might seem like we’re just out here playing truck police, we’re really just trying to make sure everyone gets home safe.
