Semi truck flips off bridge in fatal wreck

A truck driver is dead after crashing off a bridge in Mississippi on Monday night and landing on the roadway below.

The accident happened on August 27th on Interstate 55 South at Highway 22 in Canton, Mississippi.

According to WJTV , a witness to the crash told Canton police that the commercial vehicle hit the bridge wall and went over the side. The tractor trailer then flipped and landed on the roadway below before catching fire.

The truck driver has been identified as 48-year-old James Edward Reed of Wappapello, Missouri.

The accident is still under investigation. No further information has been released.
