Chicago police are investigating a bridge strike and cargo theft incident that took place on Thursday.

Just before noon on September 5, a UPS truck driver attempted to navigate under a railroad viaduct at  21st Street and Kedzie Avenue in Little Village in Chicago, Illinois, according to CBS News .

The viaduct was reportedly marked at 13 feet.

The roof of the trailer of the UPS truck was peeled off as the truck passed under the viaduct.

    No injuries were reported.

Police say that between 12 and 15 people arrived on the scene and started stealing an unknown number of packages from the damaged trailer.

    UPS released the following statement:

We are aware of a situation involving one of our drivers that occurred this morning. We are cooperating with the responding authorities in their investigation and respectfully defer questions about this incident to them.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Gangs sit by the low bridges as you come out of the rail yards and turn the wrong way, not being familiar with the area. As soon as you stop before the bridge, they're on you like glue. They'll unhook the air lines, cut the seals and locks and be looting the trailer faster than you can try to maneuver away.
