A truck driver was arrested on multiple charges late last week after a welfare check led to the discovery of several kinds of contraband.

Leeds County Ontario Provincial Police were called to conduct a welfare check on an overdue truck driver in Mallorytown, Ontario, Canada on Friday, September 6th.

According to Kingston News , a trucking company called police to conduct a welfare check on a truck driver after he failed to show up for an appointment. The company told officers that the driver’s truck was located at the north service center on Highway 401.

When officers arrived at the service center, they found the truck parked with the driver inside. Officers found suspected heroin, suspected methamphetamine, and an imitation firearm inside of the cab, leading to the driver’s arrest.

The 25-year-old driver has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle (alcohol and drugs); possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine, heroin).

The driver is scheduled to appear in court on October 4th.
