A truck driver was found guilty on charges related to attempting to strike a law enforcement officer with his 18 wheeler in Pennsylvania last year.

On September 10, 2024, Craig Robert Godrey was found guilty of felony Aggravated Assault by Physical Menace and misdemeanor Recklessly Endangering Another Person, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office .

Charges were issued against Godrey following an incident that occurred on June 3, 2023, at Conestoga Creek Road and South Red School Road in Caernarvon Township, Pennsylvania.

    From the District Attorney’s Office:

The evidence showed that Godfrey, who was driving an 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck, threatened to run over and very nearly did run over a Caernarvon Township Fire Police Lieutenant. The victim, Lieutenant Timothy Cunningham, was attempting to direct Godfrey’s vehicle around the scene of a large barn fire on South Red School Road. Godfrey insisted on driving his truck through the closed portion of the roadway. Godfrey repeatedly lurched his truck toward Lieutenant Godfrey, who had to repeatedly back away from the truck’s advance.  Godfrey ultimately drove at Lieutenant Cunningham, requiring the lieutenant to physically push himself away from the truck to avoid being run over.  A portion of the incident was captured on Godfrey’s dashboard camera.

“Fire police officers and other volunteer first-responders selflessly put themselves at great risk to protect the safety of others.  The jury’s verdict holds the defendant accountable for his unacceptably dangerous conduct,” said First Assistant District Attorney Travis S. Anderson.

when did fire police become official police officers .yes there are fire police and unless your employed by the city most are volunteers .I think the headline is misleading. I mean they can't pull you over or write you a speeding ticket . Just asking lookin for an honest answer.cause most of the fire police I know would get pulled for dui by another dui fire cop your under arrest no your under arrest would be quite interesting to watch if that was the case
