Driver falls asleep hauling doubles and sideswipes second rig

No one was seriously hurt after a truck driver fell asleep while hauling doubles and sideswiped another semi truck.

The accident happened on the morning of September 18th in Pintura, Utah on northbound Interstate 15 at exit 33.

According to Fox 13 , a FedEx driver hauling double trailers was driving while his co-driver rested when he began to fall asleep. The FedEx driver then sideswiped another semi truck and overcorrected in response, causing the rig to overturn.

Both trailers overturned onto the grassy shoulder, causing minimal impact to traffic. The truck driver and his co-driver were both transported to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. Their current condition is not known.

Officials plan to drag the trailers back through a roadside fence as part of their cleanup efforts.
