Cummins, Inc. is recalling thousands of diesel engines due to a possible fuel pump defect that could increase the risk of a crash.

On September 23, 2024, engine maker Cummins informed federal authorities of plans to recall certain X15 diesel engines with part number D103019BX03 due to concerns that the fuel pump barrels may fracture and cause a fuel leak, which could result in an engine stall. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

A total of 9,274 X15 engines are affected by the recall.

Recall documents did not provide information on which trucks that the recalled engines are installed in, but the X15 engine is in use in many Class 8 trucks on the road today.

Cummins is also recalling X15 fuel pump barrel service kits with part number 631058000, and X15 fuel pump service assemblies, with part numbers 559463000 and 559462500.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed out on November 22, 2024.

Cummins will replace the fuel pump barrels for free in recalled engines.

Engine owners may call Cummins Customer Service at 812-377-5000 and reference recall number C7083.

At least Cummings admits to a problem. Ford has so many issues and won’t own up to it.
