Flaming semi truck hauling compressed nitrogen forces evacuation of nearby businesses

Businesses in LA county were forced to evacuate after a semi truck hauling compressed nitrogen caught fire.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 8th at 12:20 p.m. in the 2700 block of South Garfield Avenue in Los Angeles County, California.

According to CBS News , the commercial vehicle was hauling compressed nitrogen in tanks when it caught fire, prompting a quarter mile evacuation that included nearby businesses. A nearby school was also forced to go into shelter-in-place mode due to the incident.

Firefighters battled the flaming hazmat incident for an extended period of time with a constant stream of water, but the flames still singed the side of a nearby building.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still unclear. No further information has been released.
