ELKTON — Bohemia Manor used a strong second half performance on both ends of the field to capture a 7-2 victory over Elkton on Friday. The victory is the second of the season for the Eagles and their first on the road.

After a closely contested first half saw the game knotted at two going into the break, Bohemia Manor’s Dallas Fitzsimmons broke the tie with his second goal of the game at the 4:19 mark of the third quarter. The Eagles extended their lead on two more goals in the third quarter by Gavin McKew and Zach Matthews, while Alex Parke and Colton Short each added a goal in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Five different players found the back of the net for the Eagles with Fitzsimmons and Parke scoring two goals apiece. Parke, a senior, credits the strong chemistry that he has with his teammates as a big reason for his success on the field.

“This is my fourth year now and most of my teammates I’ve been playing with since the first year,” Parke said. “They know to look for me and I look for them and we make sure to work together.”

On the defensive side, Bohemia Manor goalie Aiden Woodie took the pressure off his offense by pitching a second half shutout. Woodie credited his defense as a big reason for his strong performance.

“The defense helped me out big time there in the second half,” Woodie said. “It was nerve-racking for sure but having a good defense in front of me helped my confidence a lot knowing that they could stop them.”

Bo Manor’s second half performance greatly pleased Bohemia Manor head coach Bryan Butler, who praised his goalie for his play in net.

“Having a strong defense and a strong goalie makes life easy,” Butler said. “Goalie is the most important position on the field and having him has been a godsend for the past few years. He does phenomenal.”

Elkton opened the scoring when Jacob Cline found the back of the net to give the Golden Elks a 1-0 lead at the 6:36-mark of the first quarter. Bohemia Manor evened the score at one when Fitzsimmons scored his first goal of the day with just eight seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles took their first lead of the game when Parke scored with 4:09 remaining in the second quarter, before Elkton’s offense tied the game two minutes later on a goal by Evan Michalak.

Bohemia Manor will travel to Harford Tech today, while Elkton will visit Perryville on Wednesday.
