    Rising Sun wins girls' title at Bohemia Manor's Track No Trail Invite

    CHESAPEAKE CITY — Four Cecil County teams, plus schools from Maryland and Delaware, converged on Bohemia Manor this past Friday for the school’s Track No Trail Invitational.

    Rising Sun’s girls’ team took home first place among the eight-team field with 164 points, 22 points ahead of second place Manchester Valley. Four Tigers took home first place finishes across the 100-meter hurdles, triple jump, discus and the 4x100-meter relay. Katie Callaghan led the way for the Tigers with two first place finishes in the 100 hurdles (17.10) and triple jump (31’ 11”), Caroline Mercer won the girls’ discus (122’ 10”) and a relay team of Emma Bare, Josie Wagner, Sophia Amoretti and Olivia Griffith won the girls’ 4x100 (55.26). The Tigers had another 23 athletes, plus three relay teams, finish in a scoring position across 18 events.

    On the boys’ side, Perryville placed the highest among Cecil County teams with a third place, 99-point finish. Perryville’s sprints and field events led the way with five first place finishes. Perryville’s 4x100 team (45.17) and Swedish Medley Relay team (2:07.39) placed first overall in its respective races. Sean Beard, a member of both relay teams, won the boys’ 200-meter dash (23.25). Blake Stevens, a member of the Panthers’ SMR, won the boys’ high jump (5’ 10”). Thomas Kilby placed first overall in the boys’ discus. (132’ 9”).

    Rising Sun’s boys followed in fourth place with 95 points. Travis Bare finished the day with a pair of first place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (16.26) and 300-meter hurdles (42.15).

    Rising Sun, Perryville, Elkton and Bohemia Manor will return to Chesapeake City on Thursday, alongside North East, for the Cecil County Championships.
