PERRYVILLE — Drug Free Cecil Youth Coalition invites all incoming Cecil County students in grades 8 through 12 to the Teen Summer Send Off Aug. 25 from 2 until 5 p.m. at Perryville Community Park.

Families of these students are also invited to this free event where there will be food games and fun.

“We’ll have hot dogs and burgers, sack races Giant Jenga, corn hole ... like an old fashioned picnic,” said Beth Creek, executive director of Youth Empowerment Source, under which the Drug Free Cecil program operates.

“This is an opportunity for incoming freshmen to meet other students from the high school they will attend,” Creek said, adding representatives from all five public high schools will be in attendance. “We want them to meet other like-minded students and make that connection before they get to high school.”

While not necessary, Creek asks that students interested in coming to the Teen Summer Send Off send an email to drugfreececil@gmail.com to assure enough food is on hand.

This is the second year for the event, which last year was called “Sunday Fun Day.”

Perryville Community Park is located off of Marion Tapp Parkway.
