ANNAPOLIS — Starting Aug. 30 at 12:01 a.m., there are new recreational limits in place for the number of blue crabs one can catch per day.

These new regulations go farther in breaking down who can catch and the daily limits.

Beginning Aug. 30, an unlicensed boat with one person crabbing can take no more than two dozen crabs per day. Two unlicensed crabbers on an unlicensed boat can take four dozen. A licensed boat with any amount of licensed or unlicensed crabbers has a one bushel — or six dozen male crabs — catch limit.

Recreational crabbers may not keep females.

Until the new regulations go into effect, any recreational crabber is allowed to take a bushel of male crabs daily.
