Cinnamon Woods has officially started its final phases of house construction. When completed, the 55-and-older manufactured housing community in Conowingo will more than double in size to 190 homes, up from its current 63.

All houses are owner occupied. Lot rents of $750 takes care of lawn mowing, snow removal and trash pick up. Kyle Plunkett, regional manager of UMH (United Mobile Homes), said that owners don’t pay property taxes either. UMH has 141 communities across the United States including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Georgia.

“This is our first expansion project in Maryland,” Plunkett said.

In addition to the houses, UMH also added a community center, which Plunkett said will have a variety of uses from community meetings, game nights and for when residents have private functions.

“We are going to work with the residents to find out their needs and wants,” he said. He said the center can be rented en large or in sections, has a kitchen and handicapped accessible restrooms.

At a ribbon cutting last week Megan McRay, Executive Director of the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the expansion project.

“We look forward to what you’ll be adding to Cecil County,” McRay said.
