FAIR HILL — Elk Creeks Preservation Society will host its annual Apple Butter Festival Saturday Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at The Bee Hive.

The Bee Hive is a historic site on Telegraph Road at Little Elk Creek Road in Fair Hill. More than a century ago it was a commerce center for northern Cecil County. Elk Creeks Preservation Society is dedicated to restoring The Bee Hive. The Apple Butter Festival is a major fundraiser toward that project.

Enjoy Scottish music including bagpipes, traditional Scottish fare, plus working artisans, vendors, cider and apple butter made by hand by Elk Creeks members. The public is invited to help stir the sweet concoction in large kettles over open fires at the Apple Butter Festival and watch as it is poured into glass jars for sale.
