ELKTON — Heritage Day will be held Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Cecil County Farm Museum and regional Agricultural Center to celebrate all that is farming in Cecil County.

“Because it is our largest fundraising event we are holding Oct. 26 as a rain date,” said Matt Stauffer, president of the CCFMRAC board of directors.

Admission is free at the museum, 820 Appleton Road in Elkton, where there will be lots of activities and demonstrations including a blacksmith, farm machinery displays and apple butter making.

During Heritage Day, the public will be invited to help stirring the huge kettles full of hot apple butter mixture. Stauffer said the cider press — a popular working display — could also be part of Heritage Day.

The apple butter will be available for sale.

Stauffer said there will be vendors offering homemade bread, bee products and homemade soup among other items.

“Ice cream will be sold by the Cecil County Young Farmers,” he said. “And Singerly Fire Company is going to do our pit beef.”
