Crawford County Memorial Hospital Contributed Over $60 Million To State’s Economy
A study conducted by the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) found that Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison has contributed over $60 million to Iowa’s economy in 2023. Iowa hospitals throughout the state invested $21.3 billion, and Crawford County Memorial Hospital made up $63.7 million. Over $30 million stayed in the local community as wages and benefits from employment, $34.4 million to be more precise. The hospital supported 559.2 job opportunities, which makes up 8.5% of all individuals employed throughout Crawford County, are at the hospital. Crawford County Memorial Hospital is also a huge supporter of Denison and surrounding communities, with $2.6 million allocated for charity care to provide necessary health services to individuals who cannot afford it, serving 4.4 thousand individuals through this program. OSKALOOSA — The Southern Iowa Fair Board and Extension Council announced last night that all events at the Southern Iowa Fair that were scheduled for 5:30pm or later were canceled due to the severe weather. The board released the updated schedule for today (7/16) on their Facebook page.
First Ever State Record Fish in Iowa
(Lewis) Starting January 1, there will be a new list of state record fish to attempt to get in addition to the original list. On Saturday morning, DNR Fisheries Biologist John Lorenzen’s DNR Report on KSOM, the state conservation commission, established a set of records of large Iowa fish caught by anglers in June 1962, thus beginning the official list of State Record Fish. Interestingly, the first record submitted was from a seven-pound, four-ounce, 22.5-inch largemouth bass caught at Cold Springs Park southwest of Lewis.
