Despite a stormy start, Portland's Pride celebration witnessed thousands of attendees who gathered to champion diversity and self-expression yesterday. According to KOIN 6, despite the rain, the festivities, including the parade and the subsequent Old Town Block Party and waterfront festival, went off without a hitch. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Pride celebrations had a stormy start Sunday, but the brief downpour wasn’t enough to rain on the parade. The annual parade, emceed by KOIN 6’s very own Emily Burris and Travis Teich along with co-hosts Summer Lynne Seasons and Bolivia Carmichaels, went off without a hitch and some state leaders, including Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, were seen joining in the celebration.
Debate over street plaza revolves around costs and public benefits, PBOT says

Ore. dad pleads guilty to leaving newborn daughter in recycling bin after she died
PORTLAND, Ore. (TCN) -- A 53-year-old man entered a plea deal with prosecutors this week for leaving his newborn child's body in a commercial recycling bin after she died. Multnomah County court records show Alnath Oliver pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide on Friday, July 19. Prosecutors dropped charges of second-degree manslaughter, criminal mistreatment, and rape. The Oregonian/Oregon Live reports a judge sentenced Oliver to four years in prison.
