Rockford-area SNAP recipients may qualify for food replacement
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Help may be available for some people in the stateline who had to throw out food due to widespread power outages following severe storms. The Winnebago County Emergency Management Agency says Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP recipients who experienced power outages lasting longer than four hours can request food replacements within 10 days of the event. According to the Illinois Department of Human Services, food bought with SNAP benefits may also be replaced if it was destroyed in a fire, flood, tornado or other devastating event.
