Kansas defensive end to visit Nebraska on July 27
A defensive end from Kansas has scheduled a visit with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Hunter Higgins will visit the Lincoln campus on July 27. His visit will come just days after his July 25 visit to the Oklahoma Sooners. The three-star prospect plays for Maize South High School in Wichita, Kansas. National recruiting analyst Tom Lemming had high praise for Higgins last December. He wrote, (Higgins) should be become a national recruit. Excellent length, quick hands and feet and shows explosive moves to the ball. Tenacious and tough. Terrific attitude. 3.9 GPA. The recruit has been a popular player recently. One teen deceased, one teen seriously injured in fatal crash outside of North Platte
North Platte, Neb. - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and first responders responded to a one-vehicle, fatal accident Thursday morning outside of North Platte. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), shortly before 10:00 am Thursday, deputies and first responders were dispatched to an accident on West A Street, several miles west of North Platte.
Gold Announces University of Nebraska (NU) System Leadership Appointments
University of Nebraska (NU) System President Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., has announced interim appointments to two senior leadership positions in the NU system office. Chris Kratochvil, M.D., will serve as interim vice president for external relations, overseeing a team responsible for state and federal relations, communications and media relations, marketing and digital media, and event planning. Kratochvil will also oversee functions of the president’s immediate office and collaborate with government relations and communications teams across the campuses to help strengthen relationships with university stakeholders and promote NU’s brand and reputation.

Malleck Makes History with Win at 116th Nebraska Amateur
LINCOLN, Neb. (Nebraska Golf Association) - York’s Reed Malleck capped off a historic week to win the 116th Nebraska Amateur Championship on Friday at Fremont Golf Club. Malleck shot a Final Round 69 (-2) to win by one stroke over his Husker teammate Hamish Murray, finishing with a 273 (-11) total. It’s Malleck’s first Nebraska Amateur title, and he is the fifth player with four rounds in the 60s, having shot 68 (-3) each of the first three rounds.
One taken to hospital after multi-car crash in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A three-vehicle crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Webb Road and State St. Capt. Dean Elliot of the Grand Island Police Department said a northbound vehicle was turning left onto State St. when it collided with a southbound vehicle. The collision then pushed into a third car.
